GHI “Frakenstein’s Castle” Josh Gates Season Finale

New “Frakenstein’s Castle” Josh Gates “Destination Truth” helps the team investigate a castle in Germany (Reality) as stated by comcast.

Once again the GHI team gets the opportunity to investigate another great site, Frakenstien’s Castle. The team overall this episode seemed to try very hard (or the film crew) to appear to be serious and not come off as corny. Since this was suppose to be Season Finale they also brought Josh Gates along.

For those of you not familiar with Destination Truth I think it ran last year some time. Josh Gates is head guy and is for this show a kind of comical relief, his humor is akin to Anthony Bourdain (does any watch the travel channel?). He was there kind of poking fun at the corny situations but staying somewhat serious at others.

The season finale was interesting they investigated the castle and set out to debunk alot. Andy Andrews kinda scared me this episode, he used what looked to be a pipe as a ladder and went up where I guess they weren’t suppose to go because of how rickety the place is. He was fine, everything was safe. I just would be asking myself, “did I want a child?” If haven’t followed just a couple episodes he was out with his newborn child. Perhaps this is just Andy.

The owner of the castle was an interesting fellow. He states in the beginning that he believed Dr. Frakenstien what a blood brother of the Devil, in his commentary about the history of the castle. When he was in the anne marie tower he also states about “young and spicy” girls?

What I found interesting is that he recounts all these stories about the history with some obvious fictional parts that show that his more then likely not a skeptic but then at the end of the show they try and cut you otherwise. GHI try and wrap it as a skeptic changing his colors. I should of pointed this out before but people who own a Castle and know that Frakenstien was a blood brother of the devil, aren’t skeptics. They might not be easily fooled (although…) well I will leave that one.

So before the reveal of the show they all decided to go to the bar and drink some of the fine culture. I then understand that Josh and Donna went off and did some research… oh speaking of Donna.

I saw Donna and Shannon go and do EVP together. I think also during this time there was numerous cut overs to Josh talking about Donna’s “Encouraging” style… I think I’m tired of picking apart this persona.

I’m not sure after watching and listening to these sounds what to classify them on. The methods in the past I’ve read and used were based on Perception which is very hard thing to classify. If I’m taken away from being able to perceive what is going on because of language barriers I don’t think I could possibly rate these. I will say that the client was able to pick them out as OLD German, which in my studies is 8th Century however it really wasn’t all that different until around the 12th century and later with the translation of the bible in the 15th. Robb at the in the show mentions 200 AD… Irregardless However the two things the client stated where in modern German. Perhaps the client meant Low German instead of OLD which are the various dialects from the evolution of the area. “It’s not Frankenstein, it’s Frakenstien!”

Another interesting device brought in was a ultrasonic detector. They stated that it also brought ultrasonic in to the perceivable range upon recording. This means frequency modulation has to occur. If you want to akin something to it in our days it’s like taking the bass on your stereo and making it a treble. I just don’t think the playblack is going to be incredibly insightful. Also regardless of isolation, a ruined castle will have several living sources of ultrasonic. Mainly “echolocation” which is used by bats at night. Mice and Rats stretches register at those levels as well. It was a good decision by the Team Lead Robb not to include anything found with this.

Overall after a first season I think the GHI team, cast, etc has learned alot about being in the spot light. The show has started to mature a bit and looked really good as a regular episode. It fell short for a Season Finale and truthfully I think with out Josh’s Gates joking the episode would of been a snooze feast. Knowing sci fi they will certainly run this again, it’s probably one of their higher ranking shows. I just hope we will see more from them as evidence. Personal Experiences are great, but they really are pennies to the dollar. Everyone you meet has seen or heard a ghost or something they can’t explain, they can’t all be real. Remember the facts, 150,000 deaths per day of which we believe only 1-3% of all places indeed have activity that is unexplainable. Pennies to dollars… Pennies to dollars.
