Introduction to the new series

The new series starts out with Jason and Grant actually doing a type of mock meeting to smooth transition into this new series. Robb Demarest is replacing the skeptism that Jason and Grant would be giving. Robb seems to be decent at what he is doing. He certainly turned my opinion around about the GHI team.

Team Members

In previous discussion I outlined my fears about Barry and Brian. I will admit Brian did really well. Although I noticed in the night time line up (starts around 6 or 7pm) they kinda tried to paint the Brian that we all love and know that runs when in a prison and hears a noise. Sci Fi tends to do this. Notice the placement of the element episode with Barry after the GHI episode?

Barry well I’m still forming a opinion. He tried to provoke the spirit in annie’s room by taking some dolls away, but as soon as they started to hear something in the other room , Brian (good for him) says let’s go there, but Barry hesitates. In my opinion Barry, fake it till you make brother.

I understand the fears but I always think of this, what if I was the first person to be beaten and consumed by some flesh eating demon on TV. Not only does it prove flesh eating demons it also immortalizes you as the first person ever eaten. I jest.

Overall for the two places the investigated for evidence they captured some lower class evps and one photo that was a bit, well didn’t look all that interesting to me *there was no comment by Robb*. If you saw the new episode of Ghost Hunters at 8 you would of been let down by the GHI team. How do you beat Grant seeing a shadow on one infrared cam and catching it on the thermal cam simultaneously, that’s great stuff!?

One new thing that GHI pulled out was a ion counter or meter. This was interesting. Basically all air has a charge and has negative and positive ions. This device essentially measures the charge in the air. However the first thing I wondered about was the negative ions released by movement and friction. Just the very fact of our pants rubbing together will release negative ions. I bet that GHI will pull this out from the line up of tools.

Donna… well I don’t think that the rosemary was appropriate it’s also very apparent she spooks easily. During the second investigation analysis they made a joke about it. Confidence in unfamiliar surroundings can be learned, just not by everyone. She should start by leaving the rosemary at home.
Shannon she wasn’t really given alot of air time to see what she is like so far I’m sure we will see further character development here.

Andy Andy Andy. That guy cracks me up he attached himself to Robb just as quickly as he attached himself to Jason. I really enjoy his enthusiasm but sometimes it can be his biggest fault.

Lastly Robb, he has his hands full. He looks like a great skeptic and will do the field justice. However I do wonder how long he has done video analysis. In the episode second investigation it’s clear that he was watching a 4 screen to do video analysis and well we can only hope that someone goes back over that with a single feed. Sorry Robb no one gets by with out a little critique.

Ghost Hunters International will do well as a series and be a nice diversion. It does great homage to the original series and I know I will be a regular fan. However I don’t think they will ever surpass the original group, but perhaps become complimentary if not equal.
