How to Start a Paranormal Society
There are no hard and fast rules on how to create a paranormal society but I tend to separate paranormal societies and groups from another based a few things. These are what I consider some fundamental choices when forming a paranormal society or group.
Decide where your beliefs are as a group
Pure Skeptic society or groups
This group would be comprised of skeptics that are out there to ‘de-bunk’ everything and believe that there is more than one reasonable explanation for everything. I have yet to see a group like this make it in major media. This group would not have any ‘psychic’ or use of mediums, dowsing, or anything affiliated with occult or equipment viewed as non-scientific. James Randi offers a million dollar prize for proof of paranormal. James Randi has never had anyone win, and you know it’s reasonable rules.
Skeptic Believer Mix Society
This is where groups like the modern TAPS would fit. Your not necessarily going to use non-scientific methods but you will use what you possibly can. Hokey Mix Clearly you know where my bias lies. However the Hokey mix tends to sell a lot of televisions. It’s bittersweet for the Skeptic Believer mix, because I feel this much exposure is great, but the more groups such take on the television media the more our audience files paranormal under entertainment and ultimately untrue, fallible, not true science.
What are your paranormal Goals?
Establish clear goals and knowing what type of group you are you will know what you will be doing.
- Will you be doing public investigations?
- What will be the equipment you will use?
- Evidence or Thrill? Both? Which one more?
- What do you attend to accomplish?
These questions will help you out so answer these.
Finally
Grow your Paranormal Group
The last part is connect with the community via web, phone, email whatever you need to do to make your group grow. You will only get out as much as you put in when it comes to making your group become better and growing. So remember work hard and find those ghosts.
